Auditions
- Company Auditions are held every June for the upcoming dance season. Any dancer who is in 3rd grade - 12th grade is eligible to audition. Auditions will be held for each style of dance: Jazz/Contemporary, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Tap. Specific dates and times will be provided before each audition season.
- Each audition attended has a rate associated with it.
- Early Bird Fee: $25.00 for each audition
- Week of Fee: $30.00 for each audition
- Early Bird Solo Showcase Fee: $20.00

Results
- Dancers will be notified via email and U.S Mail about one week after auditions have culminated. Once you have received your results list, you will be able to determine how many classes or competition dances he or she will be in. You will also receive the staff feedback written during your audition.
- Once dancers receive their acceptance or declination letter, both parent and student will be responsible for reading through the “Company Handbook”. Parent and Dancer will need to return the provided contract and the $300 deposit to let NSDS know what Companies he/she has accepted by July 21st. There will be a $50 late fee if received after July 21st.
Alternative Placements
- Understudy/Apprentice
- Being an understudy/apprentice means you have the potential to be in company, but you haven’t reached the required skill level yet. However, you will have the opportunity to learn alongside other students, and the teacher will monitor progress throughout the season and provide feedback at regular “Check-In’s”. At any time if the teacher sees fit, the understudy/apprentice may be promoted to a full-time company member.
- Understudies will receive costumes for their dances, and will perform at the Spring Recital at the end of the year. However, they will not perform at Ben-Con or any of the competitions. They also will not be in any production dances, and will not receive costumes for them.
- Not Accepted into Company
- There are still plenty of options for dancers to continue their training with NSDS in our recreational program. The tuition will remain the same, and there will still be performance opportunities for The Nutcracker and Recital. Recreational class Costume fees are $80-$90 per class.
- Private Lessons and Company Connections are encouraged if you are interested in auditioning in the future.
